Shahinaz PelterShahinaz Pelter gained her JKA England Coaching Licence Qualification at the recent Hatfield Kata Course. The Qualification was awarded by Sensei Tomlin 6th Dan and Sensei Stewart 5th Dan.

This Qualification allows the holder to give classes and run their own Club. There are further levels of Coaching Qualification which can only be obtained by attending Courses and taking written and practical exams. JKAE also provides training and qualification courses for Judging and Refereeing, and JKA Black Belts are encouraged to develop their depth of karate knowledge. A commitment to study and train is necessary to pass these tests so a big WELL DONE to Shahinaz who certainly deserved to pass.

Jake Thomas wins Silver fror KataJAKE THOMAS wins Silver for Kata at the East London/Alpha Clubs Competition.

Well done Jake! This was a very good result as we only had two entries in this event, Jake and his father Adrian. Lets hope more Club members will take part in the future as competition experience is good for improving your karate and preparing for gradings.

Mother and son, Shahinaz and Patrick (aged 10) both passed their Shodan Black Belt gradings at the Crawley K2 International Course.

The examination panel was headed by Sensei Osaka and also comprised; Sensei Hirayama, Sensei Larsen and our own Sensei Ohta. Patrick & Shahinaz put on a fantastic performance and thoroughly deserved their promotion to 1st Dan.

They have worked very hard over the last three years, often training four or five times a week! In 2011 they both attended all the JKAE National and International Courses and this shows the level of commitment and dedication that they have made to following the true path of Karate-do.

An example to us all!

Two Silver Medals at the Lewisham Club Competition

In addition to this they both won two Silver Medals at the Lewisham Club Competition in April in the Kata and Kumite sections. What a fantastic start to 2012 and lets hope that these excellent results will inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

CONGRATULATONS PATRICK & SHAHINAZ!

Prague JKA European Championships Prague: The JKA European Championships 2012

Sensei Martin attended as a Judge and saw the England Team win 3 Gold Medals.

The performance of the England Squad was great with really professional behaviour from the whole team.

Sensei Martin was very proud to be English and associated with such a dedicated group of young people.

The organisation, management and coaching was also of the highest standard. Well done everyone involved.

Only one other JKAE member achieved this so this was a good advert for South London SKC. WELL DONE Patrick and Shahinaz and let’s hope that our club will continue to support these events this year and in future years. MD.
